A Message from our CEO

Wilson Leslie color webGreetings and welcome to One-to-One Institute’s website!  The contents represent a continual work in progress. Our efforts are geared to providing the most up to date resources, commentaries, and opportunities.

Many years ago, Yogi Berra made an astute observation, “The future ain’t what it used to be.”  The implications for business, industry, education, personal matters, etc., were profound.  Change had to happen to ensure relevancy, competitiveness and efficiency.  It did – in many ways and in many organizations. Education continues to lurch forward in philosophy, practice and adaptation to a new global, lightening-speed paced information age. One-to-One Institute has been at the forefront in this practice serving states, districts, schools and other countries since 2005.

Learners are the core of our non-profit mission, our work.  Since 2005, One-to-One Institute's service, consultancies, and programs have been aimed at serving administrators, teachers, students, parents/caregivers in their quest to successfully transform education to a learner-centered, personalized ecosystem.  Meaningful integration of technologies that leads to each learners' achievement of greater potential is and has been center to this work.

“The mission of One-to-One Institute is to transform education by personalizing learning through universal access to technology.”

Our passionate team is dedicated to ensuring ongoing development of meaningful, relevant programs and services.  Each of our engagements is customized and thoughtfully developed within a culturally-sensitive, adapted delivery that complements all aspects of the organization and its systems.

Research is our foundation.  The Institute has co-authored and is engaged in ongoing research around school transformation through well implemented technologies.  ProjectRED, the 2012 groundbreaking edtech research, has informed our work, content and services.  At this writing, we have launched our third research phase of ProjectRED.  This iteration will look at learner/system outcomes in the seventeen ProjectRED Signature Districts who serve as models of best practice in implementing education technologies.

Enjoy your visit to our site!  Reach out if we can answer questions or provide additional information or guidance.

 Regards,

Leslie Wilson

One to One Institute Announces New CEO

One to One Institute Welcomes New CEO Sarah Hanawald

February 14, 2019 (Bloomfield, MI) – One to One Institute (OTO) Board of Directors and staff welcomed their new CEO, Sarah Hanawald to the organization. Ms Hanawald succeeds founding CEO, Leslie Wilson, who has led the organization since its incorporation in 2006.

Ms Hanawald has more than twenty-five years of experience pioneering education innovation and leading transformational change in schools. Her work is focused on the learner and encompasses the intersection of technology with curriculum and pedagogy.

During her career, Sarah has worked in and with public, independent, and charter schools across the US. She has been a classroom teacher, a technology director, an academic administrator, and an educational technology consultant. Most recently, Sarah served as the first Executive Director of the Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (ATLIS), taking the organization from a nascent startup to a sustainable, thriving professional association.

Sarah has a BA from Duke University and an M.Ed. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Sarah resides in Raleigh, NC with her spouse and two children.

Sarah Hanawald “Throughout my career, I have believed that with ubiquitous technology comes unlimited possibility. I am honored and excited to have been chosen to lead an organization that has inspired so many education professionals to commit to transforming teaching and learning. I look forward to building on the ground-breaking research to shepherd the organization on as we continue to help schools evolve and grow to serve students into the 22nd century.”

“The OTO Board members are pleased to have Ms. Hanawald take the helm of the organization,” says Dr. WIlliam Hamilton, OTO’s Board President. “Her background and talent will ensure OTO continues to provide high quality services and consultancies and take the organization into the future. It has been this Board’s honor to serve OTO since Leslie Wilson founded the organization. Ms. Wilson took her knowledge, experience and leadership skills to create and lead OTO’s mission of transforming schools to personalized, learner-centered, technology-powered systems. Since 2006, she has developed and delivered vision-based services to educators in the U.S. and around the world. Ms. Hanawald will take this foundation and leapfrog OTO into its next iteration of services for education.”

Leslie Wilson, founding CEO of One to One Institute says, “Sarah’s breadth and depth of leadership, knowledge and experience are what One-to-One Institute needs to leapfrog mission-based development into the future.”

Leslie will remain connected and support OTO’s leadership transition and continue her consultant organization Wilson Public Sector Consulting, LLC.
