McAuley High School is an all-girls Catholic high school in Cincinnati, Ohio. The school is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and has been designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School. McAuley provides a balanced education with high levels of academic rigor, while empowering its students and creating an environment to guide its young women in the development of all of their gifts and talents.
McAuley's Tablet PC program combines the best aspects of a traditional education with the technological skills that our students will need to be successful in the future. It is obvious from both research and their experience that having access to technology is only part of the equation. More important is whether it's used effectively to help students learn better. McAuley provides ongoing professional develop to ensure the shift in pedagogy and the use of instructional strategies that lead to effective use of technology, and ultimately to improved student learning.
McAuley’s leadership has made the commitment over the past ten years to continually upgrade their technology infrastructure and train faculty members to use the Tablet PCs to make education come alive in their classrooms. Each grade receives the same model of Tablet PC, and having universal software promotes a learning environment that provides both structure and flexibility.
The Tablet PC empowers student-centered learning and offers opportunities for differentiated instruction that were not possible before. Their students consistently report that they are well-prepared for college and careers where the effective use of computer technology is essential.
